Mentor for Change Programs
DreamMentor
The DreamMentor program connects first-generation youth with caring mentors who exemplify success in their respective career fields. These mentors are experienced professionals who provide resources and experiential learning opportunities to our youth. Through the ten-month program period, mentors build bonds with mentees and receive support from each other. Additionally, mentees and mentors are equipped with critical knowledge and skills through workshops that equip mentees for college and career readiness.
CollegeMentor
The CollegeMentor program provides workshops and one-to-one mentoring that are focused on college admissions applications and financial aid. The monthly workshops equip participants to apply to all the application systems and provide expert instruction on every element of a successful application package, including school matching, drafting personal statements and other essays, data sections, and recommendation letters.
HopeMentor
The HopeMentor program offers uniquely tailored services to meet the needs of youth residing at the Union Rescue Mission in DTLA and South LA (Angeles House). MFC hosts STEAM activities and personal development workshops focusing on career exposure, cultural exploration, resilience/social and emotional learning, and the arts.
PeaceMentor
The PeaceMentor program provides social and emotional support, higher education readiness, and career development workshops to justice-involved youth in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.
ChangeMaker Paid Internship
The ChangeMaker Paid Internship, MFC facilitates opportunities to foster personal and professional growth, build confidence, and cultivate essential job-site skills. In partnership with the Spring Cafe, MFC interns are given a unique opportunity to learn the operations of a coffee shop. Additionally, our media intern has developed expertise in photography, videography, editing, and storytelling to advocate youth development.
Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is composed exclusively of graduates from MFC’s DreamMentor program. The YAB is actively reshaping MFC to become not merely a youth-serving organization but also a youth-led organization.
